Thank you Volunteers!

Date of Event:  Saturday June 21st

YMOW volunteers will do whatever it takes to provide …a meal and a smile to our clients.  If this means getting up at 6 am to be covered in blue, green, yellow or pink powder during the 3rd annual Ypsilanti Color Run we will do it and have a great time all in the name of raising money. Over 14,000 people ran through the streets on Ypsilanti on Saturday, June 21st and volunteers threw colored powder on them as they ran, strolled, skipped, hopped and walked the 5K race to benefit local Ypsilanti charities.

YMOW had over 45 volunteers and earned over $1,800. We were quite the colorful group of smiling volunteers.

Special shoutouts to our volunteers: Banfield family, Cathie McClure, Mark & Beth McClure, Greer Thibodeau, Jakub Biernacki, Rachel Laeng, Debbie and Lauren Stefforia, Kristen & Chase Baker, Jessica Batalucco, Kristen Brown, Kelly Schwartz, Jerry Brown, Cynthia Dorow, Susan Gregory, Hai Huynh, Bev Buck, Kurkjian family, Tino Romelt, Tim Ryan & Nate Foreman.

feral_foods_csa_smallYMOW Community Breakfast Gathering – Raised $1,300

Date of Event:  Sunday May 25th, 2014

It was great to see so many smiling faces at feral foods CSA Community  Gathering.  Thank you to all who attended (we broke a record 128 people!!), we are so happy that so many in our community attended the family friendly event.  It was so much fun to have Kevin Devine join us for a sing-along for the kiddos.

The menu, which included roasted asparagus and potato quiche was loved by all and the kid’s french toast, made by Beezy’s, was a HIT! Mmmm…   Thanks to our hungry supporters we raised over $1,300 which we will use to provide over 375 meals for homebound Seniors.

About Feral Foods: grow food. cultivate community. inspire minds.

There is still time to join the CSA for a Summer crop share for $35 a week.  You’ll be glad you did.

GLA Profile Pic - WhiteGive Local Day of Giving – May 6th 2014

“Give Local Ann Arbor Area” happened on May 6, 2014 and raised nearly $2 Million dollars for 50 local Washtenaw County, Michigan nonprofits.  Ypsilanti Meals on Wheels raised over $31,000 thanks to the generosity of many great community supporters.

All the funds raised will be used to help YMOW eliminate our waitlist for Seniors and if there is extra funds a new vehicle will be purchased to support meal delivery.

During the Day of Giving we requested community support for:

  1. Vehicle Replacement – We need to replace a 2003 SUV that has over 100,000 miles. A new SUV will help our staff deliver to seniors in the most rural areas of Augusta, Willis, Ypsilanti Township and Milan.
  2. Waitlist Elimination – In the past year YMOW has made significant strides in eliminating our wait for seniors; however, we still have 25 seniors waiting for service.  Your support will help us to be a “No Wait” service provider.

Thanks to over 200 donors Ypsilanti Meals on Wheels will be a “No Wait” for Seniors service provider by May 31st, 2014!  We couldn’t have made this happen without generous support from our community and the Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation.
