Volunteers play an important part in the Ypsilanti Meals on Wheels program.
We need you to:
- Deliver meals
- Wash and maintain delivery vans
- Do secretarial work
- Write and research grants
- Do data entry and word processing
- Represent the program at health community affairs
- Do graphic design
- Take photographs
- Or serve on the Board of Directors
We also need volunteers to take on special projects such as carpentry or video production. Our volunteers lend a hand from professionals donating specific services to students with a few hours of spare time contributing around the office, and everything in-between! Whether you want the hands-on experience of delivering meals, have a specific skill to offer, or simply want to help out, we welcome your assistance. Please call (734) 487-9669 or e-mail us to let us know how you would like to help.
We could use your help!
Ypsilanti Meals on Wheels needs volunteers for the holidays! We deliver meals on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Day using volunteers, rather than our regular delivery team. Many families and groups of friends have made this a holiday tradition. Our demand for home-delivered meals has increased. With this, we need more volunteers than ever to ensure that everyone gets fed and visited on the holidays. Bring your own group, or come individually, and we will try to group you with a team. Each team delivers 4 or 5 meals, generally taking about an hour (so it is not an all day thing). If you are interested in more information or signing up, give Ann or Kathy a call at the Meals on Wheels office. (734) 487-9669.
