Mary Garboden
Client Care Associate
A resident of Ypsilanti since 2007, Mary Garboden joined the YMOW staff as a Client Care Associate in January 2026. After an 18-year career with the Ypsilanti District Library, Mary was excited to continue building relationships with Ypsilanti residents and providing them with food access. She has fond childhood memories of helping her mother deliver meals as she volunteered for the local Meals on Wheels in Goshen, Ind.
“Living and working in the same community is something I find incredibly meaningful,” Mary said. “I love being rooted in Ypsilanti. Visiting clients each day, greeting them with a smile and hearing about their lives continues to deepen my appreciation for this special place.”
Outside of YMOW, Mary enjoys gardening, kayaking, camping, reading, making sourdough bread, and learning new skills – most recently, upholstery work. She loves composting and dreams of building a black soldier fly composting system. She lives in Ypsilanti with her partner, their dog, and a small flock of chickens.
