Volunteers Making a Difference
More than 200 volunteers donate over 3,000 hours annually to help Ypsilanti Meals on Wheels fulfill its mission to deliver nutritious food and friendly companionship to its homebound neighbors.
For many of our clients, a volunteer is the only person they see all day. For some, their favorite part of our program is seeing the smiling faces of the volunteers and taking a few minutes to visit.

Opportunities are available Monday through Friday, and holidays.
Volunteers can participate on a regular basis that meets your schedule, or you can ask to be called when needed.
NOTE:
*All potential volunteers, including those fulfilling court-ordered community service, must undergo a background check before serving our clients. Ypsilanti Meals on Wheels serves a vulnerable population. For their protection, people with certain offenses are not allowed to assist with our program. Those offenses include, but are not limited to:
- Violent crimes
- Theft
- Financial fraud
- Elder abuse of any kind
If you have a history of any of these crimes, or others that might risk our clients’ comfort and safety, please seek other opportunities to fulfill your service hours.
