Congratulations to YMOW Occupational Therapist Bridget Daly, who recently earned the title of Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS). Through three days of training with the National Association of Home Builders, Bridget gained knowledge about home modifications, design-build features, and products to help seniors live at home independently.
CAPS professionals like Bridget are trained to help older adults make choices and changes that will help them to age safely in place and avoid moving to a more accessible home. With simple changes like task lighting, grab bars, and other home modifications, seniors can live longer and more safely in their homes.
“My CAPS training will help me guide our clients in making decisions that will work best for them,” Bridget said.
As part of YMOW’s Care on Wheels team, Bridget visits the homes of homebound seniors and helps them to determine what changes might help them to live more safely as they age at home.
“Bridget’s CAPS designation will empower YMOW clients who wish to continue living at home,” said YMOW President and CEO Barbara Niess-May. “This designation is an important step in YMOW’s mission to support our homebound neighbors as they age.”
