Edgar is a Meals on Wheels recipient. He’s also an author, a musician and a dad.
Thanks to Meals on Wheels, one thing he isn’t is a burden to his busy children.
At 51, he’s among the youngest of YMOW’s 200-plus clients. And as the father of a 27-year-old daughter and a 17-year-old son, Edgar said he’s grateful for the freedom that YMOW affords his children and the security he has knowing he’ll always have a meal to eat.
“They can go on and live their lives without worrying about me,” said Edgar, who has relied on Meals on Wheels for about four years.
Rather than relying on his teen-age son for grocery shopping or food preparation, their visits can be spent doing what they both love – making music.
“Music just runs in our blood,” said Edgar. A former performer himself, his son is eager to follow in his dad’s musical footsteps. Meals on Wheels, Edgar said, is making that just a little easier to do.
You can honor your dad this Father’s Day with a gift that will help Edgar and other local dads enjoy their families just a little more.
