Special Event Support

Ypsilanti Meals on Wheels holds several annual fundraisers to support our work in the community. None of these events would be possible without the generosity of volunteers like you.

From serving on a planning committee to helping the day of an event, there is a job for everyone.

Holiday Home Tour

Our Holiday Home Tour takes place the first Saturday in December every year. This is our biggest and most labor-intensive event.

Volunteers can fill many roles in making this event a success, including but not limited to:

  • Serving on the planning committee
  • Securing homes for the tour
  • Helping to secure donations from area restaurants and businesses
  • Acting as a docent or chief guide on the day of the event
  • Decorating
  • Setup and teardown at our Afterglow reception

Meals on Heels

Launched in 2017, Meals on Heels is a Gatsby-inspired evening that invites supporters to don their most fabulous footwear and their 1920s glamour while enjoying food, drinks, music and fun, all in support of the YMOW mission.

Volunteers are needed to:

  • serve on the planning committee.
  • secure donations from area restaurants and businesses.
  • assist guests at the event.
  • help with setup and teardown.

Valentine’s Day Card-making

Each year in advance of Valentine’s Day, volunteers and YMOW staff gather to create handmade greetings for our clients.

You can show our clients a little love this Valentine’s Day by:

  • making cards the day of the event.
  • donating supplies such as paper and decorations.
  • recruiting friends and family to join in on the fun.

Pi(e) and a Pint

March 14 is Pi Day, a day to celebrate the infinite mathematical constant that, like hunger, knows no end.

Held at Cultivate in Ypsilanti, YMOW’s Pie and a Pint event raises money to stop hunger among our local homebound neighbors while encouraging guests to treat themselves to pie, pizza and drinks.

Volunteers can help by:

  • securing donations of pies and pizzas from area businesses.
  • serving pie, pizza and drinks at the event.
  • assisting at the event.
  • gathering friends and family to attend.
