YMOW incurs costs to protect clients during COVID-19
As we make our way through this unprecedented health crisis, YMOW’s first priority remains the health and well-being of our homebound neighbors.
Special precautions are in place to protect our clients as we continue to provide them with a daily delivery of freshly prepared food. We also have taken steps to ensure that each of our clients has the food they need in the event that deliveries must cease.
The financial cost of these steps, including delivery of frozen meals, non-perishable emergency meals and cases of Ensure meal replacement drinks, surpassed $25,000 in the first weeks. Added staffing, necessary to make up for reduced volunteer support, will be an ongoing expense throughout the crisis. Because meals are now being delivered just three days each week, we have purchased additional coolers to accommodate the larger volume of food.
YMOW has always delivered more than a meal. During the COVID-19 crisis, we are making a special effort to provide non-food essentials to our clients. Incontinence products, toilet paper, paper products, cleaning supplies and toiletries are being distributed as they become available.
Please consider a donation to help offset the cost of caring for our homebound neighbors. The best way through this or any other crisis is together.
