Ypsilanti Meals on Wheels is grateful to the Community Services Committee of the Kiwanis Club of Ann Arbor for its funding of our youth volunteer program.
This $2,000 grant from Kiwanis Club of Ann Arbor will allow Ypsilanti Meals on Wheels to expand volunteer opportunities for young people in our community. Those opportunities include meal delivery, a Pen Pal program and the chance to build relationships with YMOW clients through friendly visits.
“Ypsilanti Meals on Wheels relies on volunteers to help us deliver healthy meals and friendly smiles to our clients every day,” said Volunteer Coordinator Rolanda Logan. “Our youth program not only helps our senior clients, it helps to instill in young people the importance of giving to their community, now and throughout their lives.”
The Kiwanis Club of Ann Arbor relies on its Friday and Saturday Thrift Sales to fund its support of youth and youth organizations throughout the community. The 90,000-square-foot Kiwanis Center at 100 N. Staebler in Ann Arbor is filled with gently used furniture, sports and exercise equipment, household items, seasonal items, books, jewelry, clothing and more.
Shoppers are welcome from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Friday and Saturday.
Donations of saleable items can be dropped off any time under the covered enclosure in the Thrift Shop parking lot. Donors also can arrange to have items picked up by calling (734) 665-0450.
By shopping at the Kiwanis Thrift Sale, you are supporting youth throughout the community while extending the useful life of the items you buy.
