For the protection of our clients, staff and volunteers, YMOW has changed its onboarding and training process for new volunteers.
- All volunteers interested in volunteering with our organization must complete a volunteer application located on our website (https://ymow.org/volunteer/).
- Applicants who complete the application and pass the initial screening will be invited by Volunteer Coordinator Jessica Cichowlas to attend a two-part training.
- The first part of the training is an online presentation.
- The second part of the training will be an on-site presentation, conducted using face masks and social distancing.
- Volunteers must complete our health screening survey on the scheduled day of the training and prior to each visit to YMOW.
- To ensure the safety of staff and volunteers, trainings will be limited to a maximum of four participants. This will allow us to practice social distancing and to clean & sanitize after each training.
- Following completion of the two-part training, YMOW will complete background checks for all qualified volunteers.
- Approved volunteers will be added to the meal delivery schedule to assist with mini route support. This involves use of the volunteer’s own care to deliver meals to 10-15 YMOW clients.
- Volunteers must repeat the daily health screening before reporting for each shift.
- Volunteers are required to follow safety protocols, including the use of masks, hand sanitizer and social distancing while delivering meals.
- Volunteers are not allowed to ride along with YMOW staff or other volunteers, unless those volunteers live in the same household.
- Volunteers will not enter the YMOW building. Per our COVID-19 protocols, volunteers will remain in the parking lot, where YMOW staff will deliver food to their car. When delivery is complete, equipment will be left outside for YMOW staff to retrieve.
